![]() Fallout Character Overhaul (FCO)įCO is a complete revamp of characters in Fallout:NV changing almost everything possible that there is to change, making it a lot easier to make a nicer looking character as well as making all characters in Fallout look a lot more realistic. Roads, buildings, trees, and a lot of items have their textures replaced, making this a one-stop-mod for overhauling a huge percentage of New Vegas’s visuals. NMC’s Texture Packįor the unversed, there are multiple world in New Vegas and NMC’s Texture Pack reskins almost all of it with high-definition textures that make the Mojave Wasteland look sharper. It a simple mod helping to reduce the chances of crashing but combined with the 4 GB Patcher and NVSE you’re in pretty good shape.įallout: New Vegas is a little on the buggy side sadly, and can be quite susceptible to crashing to desktop. Similar to FNV 4GB Patcher, New Vegas Anti Crash is also a must one. It allows it to use more memory, to increase stability and to reduce script lag and crashes from memory overload, a problem New Vegas shares with Skyrim where save bloat increases over time (exponentially so with mods) until eventually a given save file is very large for the game to process. Unfortunately, FNV 4G Patcher is a must mod rather than a fun or interesting one. This mod makes sure that game’s script is sufficiently extended letting hundreds of mods to work at the same time. NVESE does so without modifying the executable files on disk, so there are no permanent side effects. It is a modder’s resource expanding the scripting capabilities of Fallout: New Vegas. Looking for bigger and complex Fallout: New Vegas mods, you are required to use New Vegas S cript Extender (NVSE). List of Best Fallout: New Vegas Mods Fallout New Vegas Script Extender Just un-tick the mod, if you want to remove it from the game. If the checkbox is ticked, the mod will be active in your game. The installed mod will be shown in the Package Manager window, with a tick box next to it. Click this, and then use the file browser to discover your mod folder and select the desired mod. ![]() You will see a button in the new window labelled ‘Add FOMod’. You'll also need to fire up New Vegas through Steam or GOG the regular way once for xNVSE's loader to work.In Fallout Mod Manager, open the ‘Package Manager’ using the button to the right hand side of the window. I recommend making a shortcut of this file and putting it on your desktop. NOTE: For xNVSE to take effect, you'll need to launch New Vegas with the nvse_loader.exe file that comes with this mod. The download page has installation instructions. This mod extends the scripting capabilities of the vanilla game, which is necessary for making many popular mods work. Next up, you'll want the newest version of the New Vegas Script Extender, or xNVSE. If desired, you can override LOOT's optimization to make manual tweaks to your load order yourself (this shouldn't be necessary for the mods in this list). This program automatically reorganizes your load order to make it as stable as possible. A great tool to pair with your mod manager is the Load Order Optimization Tool, or LOOT. This will allow New Vegas to read and accept any texture mods you install (we'll get to those later). ![]() Then go to Settings > Workarounds > BSA Redirection and toggle it. After installing it, log in, and select New Vegas as the game you're modding. I highly recommend Vortex since it has a great UI and is very easy to use. These tools automatically handle most mods' installation, so you don't have to dig around in-game files - simply drag-and-drop compressed mod files, and the mod manager will do the rest. The first thing you need is a Nexus Mods account, the website where most mods are posted. ![]() ![]() Thankfully, the process still isn't that time consuming or difficult. Since New Vegas is an old game with less-than-ideal stability and performance, preparing it for modding is a little more complicated than other Fallout and The Elder Scrolls games.
